It’s a brand new year now. Happy 2018! This is always a great time to take a look back and see how far we’ve come in this past year. Things are a lot different around the hostel now than they were in January 2017. And those changes were made so that you — our guest — will have a much more enjoyable experience here in Hawaii.
Our guests are the most important people in the hostel. And we want to make sure your time here is the best that it can be. You make suggestions, leave us comments, and write reviews. We take those very seriously. So thank you for letting us know how we can improve.
Floors, Furniture and more
Our building is old. No doubt about that. Have you ever tried to sleep and then you hear creak, creak, creak? That’s right, someone’s trying to be quiet when they walk across the floor. But the wood is so old it’s just not possible. That’s why some of our dorms have been closed off for construction. We’ve been tearing out that old flooring and replacing it with brand new. Not only that, but we’re installing new bathroom fixtures and replacing mattresses and furniture too.
You deserve to be comfortable. And that’s what we’re striving to do. Heck, it’s your holiday, right?
Wifi, Wifi, Wifi
And how about that wifi? It’s the most important thing on any kind of trip. And we provide it at the hostel. But have you tried walking downstairs to the common room and found that you got disconnected somewhere along the way? Annoying, right? Oh yes, we’ve experienced the same thing.
Well, wifi problems are no more. We’ve made some major improvements in technology recently. There are these things called WAP’s (or, Wireless Access Points) that were installed in every dorm room. It allows for better connectivity and doesn’t slow down your browsing time either. So book that next flight, schedule that tour, send emails back home, Facebook all you want. Because we’ve got the wifi to do it now.
Pay your room
And did you see that fancy new credit card machine we have in the front office? Just insert the card yourself. Or if you prefer, just tap and go. It has lots of new features. We’re still trying to learn them all ourselves. Did you know you can even pay your room with your phone? We didn’t until one of our guests tried it. And then – ACCEPTED. Woah!! Way cool!

Don’t forget about our direct booking discount either. We began this promo about a year ago. 2018 Here We Come
All in all, 2017 was a good year. We’ve come a long way. But we’re not finished. There’s more to come. The Polynesian Hostel is an ever-changing, fun and active lifestyle.
